Palestinian VP thanks Egyptian leadership, people for supporting Palestinians

CAIRO, April 28 (MENA) – Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian leadership and people for their historic position in support of the Palestinian people in the current ordeal since the onset of the Israeli aggression, as well as for Cairo’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and support their just cause.

Sheikh, who doubles as the deputy head of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s Executive Committee, made the remarks during his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador in Ramallah Ihab Suleiman.

During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated Sheikh on his appointment as Palestinian vice president and deputy head of the PLO’s Executive Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates said in a statement on Monday.

Suleiman said the current stage is critical, praising the Palestinian National Authority’s recent reform efforts that were previously announced by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the latest extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo.

The ambassador also affirmed that Egypt will continue its full support for the Palestinian Authority and people in the current critical stage and its continued strenuous efforts to resume ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and allow access to humanitarian aid with a view to starting the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan.

In the same regard, Suleiman stressed Egypt’s rejection of the liquidation of the Palestinian cause through the displacement of Palestinians from their land. (MENA)
