Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly asserted that Egypt, as an integral part of the region, was committed since the very first moment of the ongoing regional escalation and outbreak of war to working toward containment, preventing further escalation and bringing the conflict to an end.
He warned that the prolonged duration of the war in the Middle East could have far-reaching repercussions for both the region and the world at large.
Speaking during a press conference held Tuesday at the cabinet headquarters in the New Capital to announce measures aimed at addressing the repercussions of the regional escalation and the ongoing war between the US and Israel on one side and Iran on the other.
Madbouly said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made clear that Egypt exerted extensive efforts over the past period to prevent the outbreak of war, fully aware of its grave and potentially destabilizing consequences for the entire region and beyond.
Madbouly stressed that Egypt’s position remains firm and unequivocal in seeking to contain the escalation, rejecting any expansion of the conflict and working through all possible channels to end the war and return all parties to the negotiating table.
He underlined Egypt’s conviction that a military solution will not achieve any meaningful or sustainable outcome for any side. Madbouly further cautioned that any closure of the Strait of Hormuz or targeting of oil facilities would carry serious implications for global markets and regional stability if the conflict persists.
He noted that international reports remain unable to predict the duration of the war, particularly given the rapidly shifting developments on the ground, which necessitate proactive preparedness on Egypt’s part.
