Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directives to draw up a comprehensive roadmap for developing the media sector.
The plan will build on the in-house expertise to ensure that the Egyptian media keeps pace with rapid global transformations and fulfills its role in line with the vision of the modern state and the New Republic.
Madbouly made the remarks Monday during a follow-up meeting attended by Supreme Council for Media Regulation Chairman Khaled Abdel Aziz, National Press Authority Chairman Abdel Sadeq al-Shorbagy, and National Media Authority Chairman Ahmed al-Meslemany.
Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed al-Homsani said the talks focused on drafting an inclusive roadmap covering the entire media system, drawing on contributions from state institutions, universities, research centers, and experts in psychology, sociology and related fields, to reflect political, economic and social priorities.
He added that participants underlined the need for training programs to boost professionalism, strengthen fact-checking, and ensure accurate reporting, supported by timely access to government data to curb rumors and misinformation.
The media leaders at the meeting stressed the importance of combining the experience of senior professionals with the contributions of young journalists in shaping strategies to implement the presidential mandate.
Concluding the meeting, Madbouly ordered the immediate launch of work on the roadmap, stressing that it should be prepared collectively to produce media content that promotes awareness, reinforces national identity, supports decision-making, reveals facts, and counters disinformation.
He affirmed the government’s openness to diverse opinions and ideas.
