Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said, 21-9-2023, that his visit to Saint Catherine city aims at inspecting the implementation rate of the “Great Transfiguration” development project, which is being carried out upon directives by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The project falls within the framework of a plan to develop Saint Catherine city and place it in its proper status through maximizing the benefit from its tourist attractions, as well as rich archaeological and religious heritage, he added.
The premier made the remarks upon his arrival to Saint Catherine city in South Sinai governorate on a tour meant to inspect a set of tourist projects in the governorate.
Madbouli is accompanied by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el Gazzar, Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna, Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewelam, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa, South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda alongside a host of officials.
The tour of South Sinai’s tourism and service projects underlines the great significance state attaches to the development of the tourism sector and promoting services in tourist cities and destinations, especially Sinai, Madbouli said.
The minister of housing briefed the premier on progress achieved in the “Great Transfiguration” project in Saint Catherine city.
The blueprint of the project entails turning the site into a spiritual spot comprising the mountains located in the environs of the scared valley, minister Gazzar said, noting that the project aims to create a global destination for spiritual and medical tourism.
The project will provide multiple tourism and entertainment services for visitors, in line with preserving the unique status of the iconic site, the minister added.
