JOHANNESBURG, Nov 21 (MENA) – Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has praised strategic partnership with AngloGold Ashanti, operator of the Sukari gold mine, reaffirming the government’s support for the company’s investments in Egypt.
Madbouly made the remarks during his meeting with AngloGold Ashanti’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Stewart Bailey and Managing Director and Vice Chair of the Sukari Gold Mines company Hoda Mansour.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Egyptian Ambassador to South Africa Ahmed Ali Sherif.
Madbouly is visiting Johannesburg to lead Egypt’s delegation at the G20 Summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Bailey expressed thanks to the Egyptian government for its support, noting that AngloGold Ashanti aims to expand exploration and investments in Egypt, especially in gold mining.
He also congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, pointing out to the company’s plans to help promote it.
The meeting covered ways to boost AngloGold Ashanti’s investments in Egypt and remove any obstacles facing its work.
On that score, Madbouly said Egypt is keen to facilitate the company’s operations and is ready to receive its delegation in Cairo for further discussions. (MENA)
