Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said preparations are underway for the 2026 Thanaweya Amma (general secondary) exams, stressing the need to take all necessary measures to secure the examination process at the highest level and confront any cheating attempts with deterrent penalties to ensure equal opportunities for all students.
Madbouly made the remarks during his meeting on Sunday, December 28, 2025, with Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif along with some officials from the bodies concerned to review Thanaweya Amma exam arrangements.
The education minister said strict procedures will be applied to deter individual and group cheating.
He stated that clear definitions of exam violations and the penalties applied will be announced to the public before exams begin.
Cheating will be addressed decisively, Abdel Latif stressed. Meanwhile, Madbouly directed that all exam classrooms be equipped with surveillance cameras. On that score, the education minister said 90-95 percent of Thanaweya Amma exam classrooms are already covered, with installation being completed nationwide before exams start.
