The Democratic Coalition, which includes 28 political parties, has announced its rejection of the new Peoples’ Assembly and Shura Council Law and threatened to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections unless the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces amends it.
The Coalition said the law constitutes a threat to democracy, as it allows the remnants of the ousted regime to run independently and return to parliament.
The group also rejected international supervision of the elections, particularly that of the United States, saying that they should be monitored by civil society organizations and the media.
