The president’s picture

Many coalitions and alliances for the next election have been announced. Yet the most surprising was the “In Love for Egypt” list. It ignored al-Ganzoury, who had formed it initially, and presented figures that were not on the list before, while other figures disappeared from it.

Aside from whether the figures mentioned in the list are with or against the revolution and from the reason certain figures were dropped from it, the list has raised questions, especially as to why the pamphlet that promotes the list carries a picture of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Yet the more important question is why did the High Elections Commission not ban this, for linking a list to the president is a clear violation of the campaigning rules.

And there are other violations as well. The members of the disbanded National Democratic Party are already blatantly bribing voters, while the Salafis are doing the same approach of the Brotherhood by sending medical convoys to treat the poor and by selling basic commodities to them for reduced prices to win their votes.

Putting rules on paper is not enough. They must be implemented, otherwise we will not have free and fair elections.
