President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has instructed to continue upgrading the electricity sector to maintain the success achieved in this regard over the past years and press ahead with further progress in support of realizing comprehensive development, most particularly in the industrial and agricultural domains.
During a meeting Thursday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, the president was posted on the pace of work at a number of projects carried out by the electricity ministry nationwide, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi also stood on the latest developments regarding the construction and upgrade of control units at the electricity distribution centers, with a view to improving the flow of electric supply, as well as the power grid’s efficiency.
Securing electric power required for operating national land reclamation ventures, especially in Toshka, New Delta, Sinai and Upper Egypt, also figured high during the meeting, the spokesman said.
President Sisi was also posted on the latest developments regarding power linkage projects with neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia, Greece, Cyprus and Italy, he added.
