The investigations conducted by the Supreme State Security Prosecution, headed by Tamer al-Fergany, have shown that the 24 defendants in the case known as the "two Mansoura cells" have committed the crimes attributed to them between July 2013 and June 2014.
Investigators say the defendants formed a cell that accused the ruler of atheism and allows the seizure of money belonging to Christian citizens and assaulting them, and planned for terrorist operations against the police and armed forces.
Three of the defendants remain fugitives. The 24 defendants were referred to the criminal court on Monday upon a decision by top prosecutor Hesham Barakat. Mansoura Court of Appeal will yet set a date to start the trial.
