Qandil visits Ethiopia to offer condolences on Zenawi’s death

A high-level delegation, comprised of a number of ministers and senior state officials and headed by Prime Minister Hesham Qandil, will visit Ethiopia Sunday to offer condolences on the death of Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

In a statement at the cabinet Saturday, Qandil confirmed Egypt’s intention to continue on with joint efforts and fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

He said that both the government and the people of Egypt “offer their sincere condolences to the people of Ethiopia for losing a great African leader with a clear vision and wisdom witnessed by all, and with a leadership role of which he defended all issues of the African continent in international forums.”

Qandil praised “the nobility of the Ethiopian people and their culture and heritage accumulated over generations, which will enable them to overcome this stage.”
