Maestro Nayer Nagui stated that participating in a world-class event like the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is an honor for any artist, noting that the event has been a dream for 20 years and was finally realized through tremendous effort.

Nagui told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the artistic vision for the official opening ceremony is “very new and unique,” featuring the participation of artists from all over the world alongside distinguished Egyptian artists in a singular musical unity.

The GEM opening ceremony orchestra will be led by the internationally renowned Egyptian conductor Nagui, with the score composed by Egyptian musician Hesham Nazih.

The preparation aims for a historic event that will dazzle the world with the beauty and grandeur of both ancient and contemporary Egyptian civilization. It was noted that all solo instrumentalists performing in the program are Egyptian.

Furthermore, the ceremony, which is scheduled on November 1, will see the participation of 121 Egyptian musicians within an ensemble that includes artists from 79 countries around the world, all under the baton of Maestro Nagui.

Nagui is one of Egypt’s most prominent conductors and has previously led international orchestras, such as the Vienna Formation Orchestra.

The orchestra will feature an entirely Egyptian brass section and choir, complemented by international participation to add a universal, human touch to the celebration of Egyptian civilization.
