Revolution youth plan ‘final warning’ for military council Friday

The Union of Revolution Youth is putting out a new round of protest calls for a “Final Warning Friday” this week.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the union said the protest is a final warning to the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) regarding revolution demands that have not yet been achieved.

The protest also comes in response to the SCAF's latest address, which the statement said took a threatening tone.

The union – a different group from the 25 January Revolution Youth Coalition – rejected what it described as attempts to smear the nonviolent revolution and divide protesters, and emphasized that the revolution will remain peaceful to the end.

The Egyptian people bestowed legitimacy on the SCAF and can strip the ruling council of its authority, the statement went on.

Regarding a forthcoming cabinet reshuffle, the group denounced attempts "to patch up" Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's cabinet and called for the dismissal of all ministers.

Several members of the cabinet belong to the disbanded National Democratic Party (NDP) and the rest were not chosen well, the group's statement said.

The group also slammed Sharaf's selection of governors, several of whom belonged to the NDP, it says.
