The Arab Organization for Human Rights praised an initiative by the president of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Kuwaiti MP Marzouq Al-Ghanim, to exclude Israel from membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Union based on its discrimination of the Palestinian people.
The organization said Monday that it met the invitation of Kuwaiti civil society to join the initiative and coordinate between civil society organizations in the Arab world and beyond.
Ghanim called for the expulsion of the Israeli Knesset from the membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union during his speech in mid-October before the European Parliamentary Union in Geneva.
The Arab Organization for Human Rights called on all of parliamentary institutions, parliamentarians, Arab and international institutions and civil society organizations to back the initiative for the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting.
