Russian deputy FM says Egypt elections will be fair

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Saturday that his country wishes success for Egypt during the presidential elections scheduled for 26 and 27 May, adding that the polls will be fair.

"Moscow is assured that the presidential elections in Egypt will be free, transparent and fair," Bogdanov told Egypt's state-run MENA in Moscow.
He said the elections represent a “golden opportunity” for Egyptians to express their opinion and select their new leadership.
Russia is confident that the new president will lead Egypt through the right direction, the official said, revealing that a visit by President Vladimir Putin to Egypt following the next electoral processes would be “very possible and normal”.
Cairo has sought closer military and diplomatic ties with Moscow following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy.
Presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is widely believed to be the certain winner of the elections, made a visit to Moscow in February.
