Current Chairman of the Lawyers' Syndicate Sameh Ashour submitted his paperwork for the syndicate's next presidential elections scheduled for November 8.
Other candidates for president include undersecretary of the Lawyers' Syndicate Saeed Abdel Khaleq and lawyer Montaser al-Zayat.
Muslim Brotherhood candidates were absent from the list this year.
The Administrative Prosecution Authority will oversee the elections and pursue the principles of transparency, fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates, said Ashour after submitting his paperwork on Tuesday.
The current syndicate council will keep carrying out its responsibilities until the end of the elections, he added.
The head of the committee receiving candidates' paperwork, Mohsen al-Demerdash, said the committee will be receiving the documents until October 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
