Seven extremists were killed, six persons were injured and 11 others were arrested during security raids south of Sheikh Zuwaid and Rafah in North Sinai.
Security sources said on Wednesday that three of the seven extremists were driving a Land Cruiser with a machine gun in their possession. The other two were on a motorbike. The suspects arrested are being interrogated over involvement in violence.
Security troops also destroyed 35 havens,16 cars and 22 motorbikes without number plates, said the source, adding that they were allegedly being used by terrorists in their attacks.
