Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed Egypt’s keenness on enhancing economic cooperation with Mauritania in various domains and boosting trade exchange, especially in the fields of fishing, agriculture, livestock wealth and pharmaceuticals.
Shoukry made the remarks, on Tuesday, during a meeting with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Salem Ould Merzoug.
The meeting tackled means of promoting bilateral ties alongside a number of other issues of mutual interest, especially the conditions in Sudan, Libya, and Syria.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry highlighted the continued development in the Egyptian-Mauritanian ties.
Shoukry said he is looking forward to the convocation of the joint higher committee at the foreign ministers’ level as soon as possible.
He underscored the importance of continued cooperation in combating terrorism.
The foreign minister stressed Egypt’s openness to secure technical support for Mauritania in various vital sectors, including industry, health and education.
He referred to the scholarships offered to Mauritanian students to study at Egyptian universities and Al Azhar.
For his part, the Mauritanian foreign minister voiced appreciation to enhancing bilateral ties in various domains.
The two ministers agreed on proceeding with efforts to further bilateral ties.
