A Sinai-based militant group claimed responsibility for firing missiles at the Israeli city of Eilat in the early hours Tuesday morning, in response to what it described as "the killing of four of the Mujahideen in Sinai."
In a statement acquired by Egypt Independent, the Mujahideen Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem said, "This was a swift response to the recent crime of the Jews, in which they killed four Mujahideen in Sinai, bombing them with a Jewish unmanned aircraft.”
“The lions of the Mujahideen Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem were able to bomb the occupied city of Umm al-Rishrash, Eilat, with a Grad missile at 1 AM on Tuesday," the statement went on.
"Eilat, and all the other cities of the Jews, will not enjoy security, tourism, or [a stable] economy,” the group added. “The Jews will pay a high price for the Mujahideen blood they have spilled."
Israeli media reported that the Iron Dome system intercepted two out of the three missiles fired at Eilat city on Monday night.
