The Egyptian Interior Ministry revealed the circumstances behind a viral photo of a car falling into a sinkhole in the First Settlement area, New Cairo.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry said in an official statement: “With the examination, the car was identified and its owner was summoned.”
“The owner reported that his car fell in the area of excavation works at a depth of two meters for sewage works carried out by a company, due to the water flooding the excavation during the rainfall, without injuries,” the statement said.
“The company pledged to repair the car, and the owner said he will not take legal action.”
