SIS apologizes for constitution banner featuring non-Egyptians

The State Information Service (SIS) officially apologized for a banner that appeared at a press conference held on Sunday at its headquarters to introduce the draft constitution.

The banner featured stock images of foreigners posing as Egyptians, something which was criticized by numerous media outlets.

In a statement, SIS noted that the banner was a gift from an Egyptian NGO that supports the constitution and that it received it just hours before the event.

The agency said that it takes full responsibility for the error and added that the case remains under investigation.
