Sisi follows up on development of health care system

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Health Hala Zyada to discuss the government’s efforts to develop the health care system and health services offered to the Egyptian citizens.

During the meeting attended by Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali, Director of General Intelligence Service (GIS) Abass Kamel, and Chief of the Central Auditing Organization Hisham Badwi, Sisi asserted that the comprehensive health insurance project would make a shift in the history of Egypt’s health sector.

He urged the government to follow up on the implementation of the national initiative for the hepatitis C virus survey and non-communicable diseases like heart attacks and stroke, making use of the survey’s results to combat the diseases threatening the health of Egyptian people.

Sisi also asked the government to follow up on the implementation of ending waiting lists for patients who urgently need surgeries.

Zyada said that the Health Ministry sends free medical convoys to the neediest areas and villages in the country, adding that around 2 million patients performed a virus C scan within the survey’s first stage from October 1 to November 30.
