
CAIRO, Oct 5 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said the Armed Forces have given their all to preserve the Egyptian State over the years, noting that the October 6 War marked the beginning of a significant breakthrough for the army in reclaiming land and achieving peace.
Sisi made the remarks on Sunday as he was chairing a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to mark the 52nd anniversary of the October 6 War victory.
The president stated that the Armed Forces rose to the challenge and safeguarded the country from collapse during extremely difficult circumstances from 2011 till 2013, with determination, patience, sacrifice, and understanding.
He noted that the Armed Forces had waged a fierce war against terrorism for nearly a decade; successfully securing the nation and overcoming one of the greatest challenges faced by armies worldwide.
“Through the sacrifices and blood of its sons, the Egyptian army succeeded in restoring the Egyptian State’s security and safety, including in Sinai,” he added.
The president highlighted that the Armed Forces have played a major role in recent years, saying he wished to record this contribution during today’s meeting of the council as a reminder of their achievements.
He explained that the Armed Forces had made a substantial contribution to national development over the past 10 to 12 years.
President Sisi said the Armed Forces also continue to shoulder the responsibility of protecting Egypt’s borders on all fronts with efficiency, strength, and composure.
He concluded by saying, “Thank you — and may God Almighty protect our country and preserve you as the shield and sword defending the Egyptian state.” (MENA)
