
Cairo's governor is taking the first step to save electricity by replacing 12 light poles in Talaat Harb Square with solar-powered posts.
The project is in coordination with the National Bank of Egypt.
Yassin Abdel Bary, head of west Cairo district, said in a statement that he will start developing Talaat Harb Square in downtown Cairo by substituting lamp posts that overlook the square with solar-powered ones and repainting the surrounding buildings.
