Spain reiterated its complete support for the candidacy of Khaled al-Anani for the top post of UNESCO Director-General on Saturday.
The support was offered at a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares on Friday.
The contact asserted the importance of strategic relations between Egypt and Spain and the two countries’ joint desire to boost bilateral cooperation on all fronts.
For his part, the Spanish foreign minister said that he had a meeting in November in Madrid with Khaled el-Anani, the candidate for the top post of UNESCO Director-General, whose candidacy is supported by both the African Union and the Arab League.
He assured the Egyptian foreign minister of Spain’s full support for the nominee for the position of UNESCO Director-General.
