Stock exchange drops slightly

The Egyptian stock exchange recorded a minor drop of 0.13 percent on Thursday, the first day for its new director Khaled Siam.

Egyptian and Arab investors tended to sell, while foreign investors were more inclined to buy stocks.

The EGX 30 index dropped by eight points, closing at 6049, while the price index went up by 0.9 percent.

Stocks of 108 companies went up, while 60 companies saw their shares drop. Transactions for the day totaled at LE580 million.

Talaat Mustafa Group, Hermes, and Orascom Constructions saw their shares drop between 0.2 and 2 percent, while Orascom Telecom went up by 1.3 percent.

In a related development, share trading for Rabya Landscaping will begin on Monday. The company specializes in home landscaping, hotels and tourist resorts.

“Offering 10 percent of our capital for trading on Monday is a good start,” said Managing Director Sabry Wadie.
