Stock market indexes closed on Thursday showing mixed performance. While the main index EGX-30 rose, the EGX-70 index declined.
The EGX-30 rose 0.09 percent to reach 617.21 points, while the EGX-70 index dropped by 0.18 percent to reach 524.62 points. The broader EGX-100 index also declined by 0.38 percent to reach 856.03 points.
The total volume of trading reached LE497.7 million in 25,300 transactions. Market capital won LE300 million, reaching LE399.2 billion at the end of the week.
Ahmed Khaled, the research department head at a brokerage company, said the market has been fluctuating during the session, with indexes alternating between rises and falls.
The rise of the main index reflects a feeling of trust in the market on the part of investors while the fall of the other indexes reflects fears of possible outbreaks of violence.
He projected the stock market indexes to rise on Sunday’s session.
