Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi on Tuesday met with Commander of US Central Command James N. Mattis and the delegation accompanying him.
Their meeting tackled regional and international developments and issues of common interest. They also discussed Egypt's democratic transition and upcoming parliamentary elections.
Mattis praised the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces' (SCAF) pledge to allow international organizations and local NGOs to monitor the elections.
Mattis also met with Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Sami Anan, and they discussed ways to bolster military relations.
The meeting was attended by several members from the SCAF and the US ambassador in Egypt.
