Textile workers end protest

Two days ago, dozens of workers from four textile companies–Misr-Iran, Mansoura-Spain, Shibeen Spinning and Mahalla Spinning–ended an open-ended sit-in they had started on Wednesday at the Egyptian Federation of Trade Unions (EFTU).

The workers were demanding their jobs back and payment of the monthly financial assistance owed to them by the EFTU.

Gharib Saqr, one of the protesting workers, said that they have suspended their protest until Sunday after receiving promises from the head of the EFTU that they will get their financial entitlements. He added that they would resume their protest if this pledge is not fulfilled.
