The Third Field Army has warned Palestinians and Syrians living in Suez against interfering in Egypt’s internal affairs or they will face severe legal action.
In a statement reported by the state-run MENA news agency on Monday, the army warned what it called "inciters of sedition" and "attackers of citizens" in Suez of its intolerance for criminal acts and its potential for a forceful response if they feel it is necessary to protect innocent people.
Ninety people were injured in the city’s Arbein Square on Sunday, in clashes between supporters of President Mohamed Morsy and shop owners in the area.
The statement reminded the people of Suez that they were the heroes of the Popular Resistance who united with the Third Field Army and achieved victory, and that they were the instigators of the revolution and will build the future.
The statement also called for comprehensive reconciliation in the city, and the army wished those injured in the clashes a speedy recovery.
