Thomas Cook to operate 36 flights weekly to Egypt – Tourism Minister

Thomas Cook airlines will increase its flights to Egypt this winter, Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed said, adding that it is planning to operate 36 flights weekly to Egyptian cities. Accordingly, he expects a rise in inbound tourism soon.

During his meeting Wednesday with the Egyptian journalistic delegation on the sidelines of the World Travel Market held in London, Rashed noted that the stereotype image of the Egyptian tourist destinations is changing gradually, yet positively shifting.

He explained that British and international media outlets have changed their negative stance toward Egyptian destinations, expressing their praise for the security measures now implemented at Egypt's airports.

Rashed added that the Egyptian government has been gearing up efforts and increasing communication channels with the British government to obtain the approval for flight resumption to Sharm El-Sheikh.

Tourism private sector decision makers had expressed their desire to resume the flights and have been eagerly awaiting the lifting of the ban, stressed the minister.
