Three dead, two rescued after family drowns in Red Sea

Three family members were killed on Friday after drowning in the Red Sea off the coast of Safaga, while two others were rescued.

The bodies were lifted from the sea and transferred to the mortuary of Safaga Central Hospital under the supervision of the Public Prosecution.

A claim was filed with the incident and investigations are underway.

The Red Sea task force received a notification that a family had drowned on a public beach in the area, and immediately dispatched ambulances to the area. 

The husband, 35, his wife, 32, and their four-year-old child died, a medical source stated, adding that another child, 11, was rescued and is now in critical condition. Another person is also undergoing treatment after trying to save the family.
