Tour guides are suffering the most since January 25: union head

Tour guides in Egypt are suffering the most since the January 25 revolution and some of them have threatened suicide, said head of the Tour Guides Union, Hasan al-Nahla, in an interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm Sunday.

Tour guides are suffering severely due to social and financial pressures, he said.

"I receive a large number of daily complaints from tour guides; some of them have even threatened to commit suicide," Nahla said.

Nahla called on the higher education and scientific research and the education and technical education ministers to decrease education fees for the children of tour guides. He also called on the tourism minister not to issue permits for foreign tour guides to work in Egypt, as it affects Egyptian tour guides.
