The trade balance deficit declined to LE17.3 billion in May 2014, compared to LE24.3 billion during the same period last year, marking a decline of 28.6 percent.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated an increase in exports by 7.6 percent, reaching LE18.5 billion in May 2014, compared to LE17.2 billion during the same period last year.
CAPMAS attributed the raise to increase in values of some goods like crude oil, fresh vegetables, preliminary forms of plastics, potatoes and orange.
It also attributed the decline in imports by 13.6 percent, reaching LE35.9 billion in May 2014, compared to LE41.5 billion in May 2013.
CAPMAS also said that there is a decline in the values of some goods, like petroleum substances, iron, steel, crude oil and others.
