Traffic has come back to life in Cairo's Tahrir Square after being blocked for two weeks by the massive protests that led to the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak on 11 February.
On Sunday morning, soldiers cordoned off protesters remaining in the square in order to facilitate the flow of vehicles. The entrance of Qasr al-Aini street, where a number of people are still demonstrating, remained blocked however.
Thinking that the army was planning to evacuate the square, one protester said through a loudspeaker that the army is the backbone of Egypt and must respond to people's demands.
Demonstrations on Qasr al-Aini Street continued as workers demanded better salaries and working conditions.
