Trial of former Interior Minister al-Adly to start 24 April

The trial of former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and a number of his assistants and officers will start on 24 April, judicial sources said.

They said the trial will take place at the Cairo Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Adel Abdel Salam Gomaa.

General prosecution on 24 March referred al-Adly and his assistants to criminal court. Al-Adly is charged with killing protesters during the 25 January Revolution .

They were also accused of causing damages to public and private properties and creating a security vacuum, harming the country’s economy and intimidating citizens.

The prosecution said that they killed and intimidated peaceful protesters who were demonstrating against deteriorated political, economic and social conditions.
