Donald Trump has renewed his statements about Washington’s control over the Gaza Strip, stating that his plan for Gaza is good, but he will not impose it and will only recommend it.
Trump added in statements today: “I was surprised by the lack of welcome from Jordan and Egypt for the plan I put forward regarding Gaza, and we provide them with billions of dollars annually.”
Trump reiterated his statements about Washington controlling the Strip, saying: “The United States will own Gaza according to my plan, there will be no Hamas, and we will start developing it.” Trump claimed that “if the residents of Gaza were given the choice, they would leave it,” and the former US President explained that the Strip has become an uninhabitable place.
Regarding the hostage issue, Trump said: “Hamas is trying to release the hostages who are in good condition first.”
He added: “A number of the released hostages were in very bad condition and looked like they had come out of a former concentration camp in Germany,” as he described it.
Trump continued: “These scenes are unbelievable and extremely brutal, and it is unimaginable that they would happen in the modern age.”
Trump confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is angry about what happened to the bodies of Israeli children yesterday, and he has the right to be so.”
Several buses exploded on Thursday evening in different parking lots and locations in the city of Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv.
The Israeli police announced that they suspect the planting of two explosive devices in two buses, which led to their explosion, and the investigation is being conducted by the Shin Bet General Security Service.
It was reported that the light rail train movement was completely stopped in the Bat Yam area due to the explosion of the two buses, and Israeli media confirmed that there were instructions for drivers in Bat Yam to evacuate passengers for fear of suspicious objects.
“Middle East Riviera” and wide Arab rejection
During the Trump-Netanyahu summit earlier this month, the former said that the US would take ownership of the Gaza Strip and develop it after resettling the Palestinians elsewhere.
Trump promised to create a “Middle East Riviera” in Gaza, referring to turning it into a tourist resort, after leveling the destroyed buildings “and achieving economic development that will provide unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for people in the region,” which was met with wide Arab rejection.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had previously announced his rejection of the displacement of Palestinians, saying that “the deportation and displacement of the Palestinian people is an injustice that we cannot participate in,” stressing that “it is never possible to give up the constants of the historical Egyptian position on the Palestinian issue.”
Sisi stressed that what is being said about the displacement of Palestinians “can never be tolerated or allowed because of its impact on Egyptian national security.”
Arab countries have also called for an emergency Arab League summit meeting on March 4 to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue.
