Two lawyers have filed a lawsuit on Wednesday to call for the release of ex-President Hosni Mubarak on health grounds.
Mubarak and his Interior Minister Habib al-Adly were sentenced to life imprisonment for failing to stop protester deaths during the 25 January revolution.
The two lawyers said Mubarak's health is deteriorating due to the lack of proper medical care at Tora Prison Hospital.
The lawsuit, filed against the public prosecutor, the interior minister and the prison authority, states that Mubarak was temporarily imprisoned at the Sharm el-Sheikh Hospital pending investigations into the case until Cairo Criminal Court judge Ahmed Refaat ordered his transfer to the International Medical Center due to his poor health.
The two lawyers said they were surprised that Mubarak was sent to the Tora prison hospital after he was sentenced.
The same lawyers filed another lawsuit demanding that Mubarak be transferred to a military hospital.
A government medical team ordered to inspect Mubarak Tuesday said he has several recurring health problems but does not need to be transferred to receive the care he needs.
