Minister of Education Tarek Shawki announced on Monday that the UK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has offered £12 million to Egypt (equal to LE 276 million) to fund the “Comprehensive Educational Service for neediest children” program which aims to improve Egypt’s educational services.
During a celebration for the project’s launch, in cooperation with the UK and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Shawki said that this project comes as part of the ministry’s plan to shift into the new “education 2.0” system.
Shawki clarified that the ministry would gradually implement the education 2.0 system, adding that the system would become the only national educational system in Egypt by 2030 starting from early childhood KG1 until the secondary stage.
Shawki explained in May that “unified content” was highlighted as the main feature of the new educational system, including “Arabic, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies”, in addition to English, religious education and physical activities.
According to local news reports, the curricula in the new system would be unified across various public and private schools.
Studying will be on unified content based on themes of more than one specialty linking topics on the curricula of Arabic language, science, mathematics and social studies.
