The Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement (SMWIPM) is organizing its first ever two-day conference to call for an end to human trafficking.
Media professionals, actresses, and hundreds of representatives from the UN Secretary General, United Nations agencies, and the business community, will participate at the End Human Trafficking Now Forum organized in collaboration with civil society, private sector organizations, senior African officials, ambassadors and professors.
The forum aims to promote awareness of human trafficking and an end to the practice. It highlights the importance of international cooperation in overcoming the phenomenon.
The conference, held on Saturday and Sunday in Luxor, will focus on the problem described by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime as the “crime of the 21st century.”
The First Lady purportedly called for the conference after learning that, according to reports, more than 2.4 million people have suffered slavery.
