Some 3,924 candidates across the country have applied over the past three days to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the High Elections Commission (HEC) said Saturday.
The deadline for applications is September 12, HEC said.
Parliamentary elections were previously scheduled to take place in March before being suspended by the Supreme Constitutional Court due to the unconstitutionality of parliamentary laws.
Parliamentary elections will mark the third and final step of the road map, which was outlined on July 3, 2013, following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.
