Very cold weather expected for Egypt on Tuesday and Wednesday

Meteorological forecasts predict cold weather will prevail in some areas during Tuesday and Wednesday, and the expected temperatures will reach 4 degrees by night, with active winds, sand and dust, reaching to predicted  storms in open and desert areas.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) issued several statements warning of bad weather, and very cold weather, especially during the night, with a minimum temperature of 5 degrees in Saint Catherine, 4 in Nakhal, 8 in Siwa, 9 in Minya, and 10 in Salloum, Assiut, Qena, Luxor, New Valley and Asyut.

The night temperatures will reach 13 on Tuesday in Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta, Wadi el-Natrun and Damanhour.

The daytime temperatures in Lower Egypt will range between 20 degrees and 21 degrees, and 20 degrees in Cairo, Tanta, Siwa, Damanhour and Matrouh, and 21 in Alexandria, Salloum, Shebin el-Kom, Mansoura, Zagazig and Ismailia.

The expected daytime temperatures in Aswan, Abu Simbel, Edfu and Shalateen will be 28 degrees, while in Minya and Assiut will reach 23, and it will reach 27 in Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.

Light rainfall expected on Tuesday on Salloum and Marsa Matrouh.

On Wednesday, the rain will be moderate on the northern coasts and the northern parts of Lower Egypt. It is also expected that the rain will be light on the southern parts of Lower Egypt.

The EMA indicates that the presence of an air depression on the surface of the Mediterranean Sea, which will stir up dust and southern winds, and reduce visibility on desert and open roads.

Storms, dust and sand in the regions from the north of the country to the north of Upper Egypt, and wind activity will increase in particular in the north of Upper Egypt and the west of the country.

The EMA also said that the temperatures will drop significantly due to the activity of dry winds, subsequently increasing the feeling of cold weather, especially during the night.

Wind activity on the Mediterranean Sea leads to the disruption of maritime navigation, especially in the western Mediterranean. The wave height will range between 3.5 and 4 meters, and the wind speed will range between 50 and 60 km.

The meteorologists advised citizens with chest, sinus and allergy diseases, not to leave their houses andalso close  windows. There is also advise to commuters to drive carefully on highways because of the dust that leads to low visibility.
