Very hot weather expected for Egypt on Sunday

Meteorologists predict very hot weather on Sunday during the daytime across most parts of Egypt, while hot on northern coasts.

The weather will be moderate by nightfall across all parts.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned of very high temperatures starting from Saturday as a heatwave continues to grip the country, and has urged citizens to avoid direct contact with sunlight.

It also cautioned not to leave any flammable materials in cars or at high temperature, and recommended civilians wear loose cotton clothes and drink more fluids.

Maximum temperatures:

Alexandria: 30C

Cairo, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Hurghada: 41C

Qena, Luxor and Aswan: 44C

Active winds are expected on parts of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, northern coasts and northern Upper Egypt.

Light rainfall expected (30 percent) at Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, northern coasts, northern Upper Egypt and Sinai Peninsula.

Waves in the Mediterranean Sea will be moderate to rough, ranging between two and 2.5 meters in height with northwestern surface winds. Waves in the Red Sea will be moderate, ranging between 1.5 to two meters in height with northeastern to northwestern surface winds.
