
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and First Lady Entissar al-Sisi hosted a dinner banquet on Wednesday evening at the Giza Pyramids in honor of King Felipe VI of Spain and his wife, Queen Letizia of Spain.
The event was held to celebrate the king’s visit to Egypt.
The official spokesperson for the Presidency Mohamed al-Shennawy stated that the President reiterated his welcome to King Felipe VI, emphasizing that the visit represents a strong boost to the strategic partnership between Egypt and Spain.
Spain’s king expressed his pride in visiting Egypt and extended his thanks and appreciation to the president for the warm hospitality and reception he, the Queen, and their accompanying delegation received upon their arrival in Cairo.
He also praised the outcome of the discussions he had with the president earlier that day, and what they will lead to in terms of a tangible enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries, given their agreement on various issues of mutual interest.
Shennawy added that the meeting covered a number of aspects of bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and investment fields.
The president also praised the ongoing cultural cooperation between the two countries, which has roots dating back to the 1960s.
He noted the importance of intensifying cooperation in antiquities, exploring opportunities to organize joint cultural and artistic events, as well as strengthening academic and educational cooperation to consolidate rapprochement and communication between the two peoples.
The spokesperson also mentioned that the discussions addressed prospects for cooperation in the tourism sector, the exchange of expertise, and working to increase tourist traffic between the two countries, given the unique tourism potential of both nations, especially with the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Following the dinner banquet, the president and first lady accompanied the king and queen of Spain on a tour of the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx.
Commemorative photos were taken to document this moment, and the guests, accompanied by the president and first lady, listened to a brief explanation about the history of the sphinx and the timeless heritage it symbolizes.
