The date of the arrival of the Norwegian HOG gas carrier to the port of Ain Sokhna has not been specified yet due to security procedures in the Gulf of Aden and the strait of Bab el-Mandeb, Chairman of the Holding Company for Natural Gas (EGAS) Khaled Abdel Badie told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Sunday.
The recent confrontations between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi rebels in Yemen have imposed a new system for navigation to secure the passage of ships, Abdel Badie added.
The Norwegian company, the owner of the carrier, will secure its passage via Yemen, according to Abdel Badie.
The HOG carrier left the port of Singapore on Saturday, embarking on its journey to Egypt which takes between 12 and 15 days.
According to a previous statement by the EGAS president for Al-Masry Al-Youm, the ship would reach Egypt by the end of March.
The Ministry of Petroleum is renting HOG's carrier for a period of 5 years, to transfer 90 LPG shipments. The cost of the LPG shipments, combined with the price of the rental, reaches US$2 billion a year.
