Weather forecast for Thursday: Significant decline in temperatures

Temperatures will decline by 3 to 5 degrees centigrade during the coming few hours, according to Ahmed Abdel Aal, head of Egyptian Meteorological Authority.

Low- and medium-level clouds are predicted for the north coasts, with light rain showers, he added. More dense clouds are expected in the northwest and the south, above Halayeb and Shalateen cities, with accompanying rains.  

During a telephone call aired on privately-owned Al-Asema TV channel, Abdel Aal said citizens have the right to get angry about the way the floods were handled in Ras Ghareb, Red Sea province. “The authority communicates with all state bodies about the weather forecast daily,” he aded to reassure citizens. 

Regarding Thursday’s weather forecast, warm weather is predicted on the north coasts of Egypt and Cairo. Highs of 21 degrees will be felt in the capital.

Visibility will be reduced in the morning in the north. Highs of 20 degrees will be reached in Alexandria. 

Moderate northeasterly wind will blow on the Gulf of Suez Gulf and Red Sea, which will disturb maritime navigation. 

Hot weather is predicted for Upper Egypt during daytime, cooling off at night. Highs of 27 degrees will be reached in Qena, 26 degrees in Luxor and 29 degrees in Aswan.

The expected heights for Mediterranean and Red Sea waves are between 1.5 to three meters, with northwesterly winds prevailing over both seas.
