Cairo International Airport authorities on Monday prevented Abla Salama, the wife of Ahmed Ezz, a steel industry tycoon and former senior official of the disbanded National Democratic Party, from traveling to Beirut.
The head of Egypt's Ilicit Gains Authority, Assem al-Gohary, had banned Ezz's two wives from travel, freezing their assets as part of investigations into their husband's wealth.
Ezz was detained on 24 February over charges of squandering and seizing public funds after Public Prosecution investigations supported the accusations.
He was one of the closest allies of Gamal Mubarak, former president Hosni Mubarak's son.
