With the participation of 42 Euro-Mediterranean countries Egypt hosts largest Economic Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, chaired by Abu al-Enein

CAIRO, Nov 25 (MENA) – Cairo will host the Economic Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), chaired by MP Mohamed Abu al-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, on 28–29 November.

This major gathering is the largest economic forum of the Mediterranean parliaments, bringing together 42 countries across the Mediterranean basin. Egypt assumes the presidency of the conference and its sessions, which cover political and economic cooperation, energy, environment and culture — all aimed at shaping a new future for partnership and collaboration among Mediterranean nations.

The conference, led by MP Abu al-Enein, in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, will feature intensive discussions on major regional challenges witnessed over recent years, and ways to overcome them through new solutions and forward-looking visions.

Topping the agenda is the Palestinian crisis and the immense suffering endured by the Palestinian people over the past two years, culminating in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit attended by 30 world leaders.

Equally central are issues such as political transitions in Southern Mediterranean countries and their impact on irregular migration, alongside climate challenges, energy crises, environmental cooperation, cultural dialogue and the deep economic disparities affecting the region.

Over the two-day forum, several committee sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean will convene, including:

• The Committee on Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights
• The Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs and Education
• The Committee on Women’s Rights in Euro-Mediterranean Countries
• The Committee on Energy, Environment and Water

These meetings will host extensive debates and produce recommendations aimed at strengthening economic cooperation across the Mediterranean, and at addressing key economic, social, security and educational priorities — along with major issues related to energy, the environment and water management — to support sustainable development and regional integration.

The Economic Forum will also host the launch of the first International Youth Conference with delegates from all participating countries.

Additionally, the forum will mark the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration — a bold and pioneering initiative that laid the foundation for Euro-Mediterranean partnership.

The event will focus on building on past achievements and enhancing the frameworks of regional cooperation to meet the rapidly changing realities of the Mediterranean region and the world today.
