Wydad AC squashes Al-Ahly in CAF Champions League finale

The Moroccan Wydad football team won the African Champions League title after defeating Al-Ahly with two clean goals, in the match that was held in the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.

Ahly dominated the game for most of the first half and posed a great danger from the crosses sent from Ali Maaloul, as it met the heads of Taher Muhammad Taher and Yasser Ibrahim on two occasions.

The only goal of the match came through Zuhair Al-Matraji in the 15th minute, from a wonderful and powerful shot .

Al-Ahly appeared in a tactical style in the second half and was unable to pose a threat to Wydad’s goal most of the time. The second goal came through player Zuhair Al-Mutarji in the 48th minute, after a major defense mistake by Ahly players.

Pitso Mosimane made adjustments and changes late in the confrontation, which resulted in several attacks that Al-Ahly players failed to convert into goals.

Al-Ahly lost the African Champions League title after retaining it in two successive editions.

The last hours before the match witnessed hot events and great differences due to the organization of the entrance of the fans and the seats allocated to the Egyptian team.
