Youth Coalition calls for million-man demo to save revolution

The 25 January Youth Coalition called for a million-man demonstration on Friday under the slogan “Save the Revolution”.

In a statement on its website, the coalition considered it a provocation that Fathi Sorour, former speaker of the dissolved parliament, and Zakaria Azmy, former leading figure of the National Democratic Party (NDP), appear in interviews on private TV channels, especially as Sorour is accused of deploying thugs to kill the demonstrators in what was known as the “Battle of the Camel”.

The statement also said that Sorour claims he was inciting revolution, and that he tried to reform the last regime, but ousted President Hosni Mubarak thwarted his attempts.

It went on to say that true reform requires fast trials for the corrupt “big four”, namely Mubarak, Azmy, Sorour and Safwat al-Sherif, the former NDP secretary general, who have destroyed Egypt’s 7,000 years of civilization, as the statement puts it.
